XYY Syndrome

   Genetic condition in males with extra Y chromosome (1 in 1000 male births). XYY syndrome' s symptoms are: extreme tall stature, may include sterility, developmental delay and learning problems.


Hereditary. Having to do with the genes.

The term "condition" has a number of biomedical meanings including the following: 1.An unhealthy state, such as in "this is a progressive condition." 2.A state of fitness, such as "getting into condition." 3.Something that is essential to the occurrence of something else; essentially a "precondition." 4.As a verb: to cause a change in something so that a response that was previously associated with a certain stimulus becomes associated with another stimulus; to condition a person, as in behavioral conditioning.

A structural unit within a eukaryotic nucleus that carries genes. A chromosome consists of a long, continuous strand of DNA and associated proteins.

The permanent inability of a man or woman to reproduce.



Fairly common on the eyelids, xanthomas -yellow, soft and slightly raised non-contagious bumps made of cholesterol deposits- are a sign of elevated cholesterol levels.

Xeroderma Pigmentosum
An inherited disorder that causes extreme sensitivity to sunlight and early onset of skin cancers, including basal and squamous cell and melanoma. Patients are also at risk for cancers of the brain, lung, stomach, tongue, and melanoma of the eye, and leukemia.

XYY Syndrome

This is a prescription drug used to treat anxiety. It is a central nervous system depressant, and can therefore have a negative impact on coordination and mental alertness. Side effects typically include drowsiness and/or mood changes.

Dry mouth or decrease in the production of saliva .

X inactivation
Normal inactivation of one of the two X chromosomes in females.

X chromosome
One of the two sex chromosomes, the other being the Y chromosome. Females have two X chromosomes, and males have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome.

In Arabic, the term usually translated as male homosexual, but applied only to men who partially impersonate women in clothing, manner, and life-style, and in their sexuoerotic role with other men.
